After the expansion of the smart growth zoning by the town, Causeway acquired a former non-profit office building and parking lot and permitted, designed, built, and marketed 55 apartments and 3,400 square feet of retail. Located in Reading’s downtown and adjacent to the Reading commuter rail, Ace Flats has significantly increased the tax revenue for the town, improved foot traffic for the commuter rail and neighboring businesses, and added to the town's affordable housing stock (with 13 of 55 units income restricted).
