Community Vision: take the most visible, underutilized, and deteriorating building in the historic district and transform it into market-rate apartments that would drive foot traffic for neighboring retail, increase the city's tax base, and become a home for new, locally-owned retail.
Originally built in 1882, and located in the heart of Haverhill's Historic Washington Street corridor, the project involved the complete rehabilitation of the 20,000+ square foot building into ground floor retail, and 18 one and two-bedroom lofts. Causeway acquired, permitted, designed, built, and marketed the project.
The lofts feature 10+ foot tall ceilings, exposed brick, large efficient windows with generous natural light, high efficiency mechanical systems, a full service elevator to each floor, and well appointed kitchens and baths.
The ground floor retail features three locally owned and operated businesses: Battlegrounds Coffee, SJ Art Consulting, and EXIT Realty.
